Here are a few examples of how you can donate to Communities in Schools and help make a difference in childrens’ lives.

Christmas Sponsorships — Sponsor a child by purchasing gifts of clothing, books, games, and toys for children whose families may not be able to provide Christmas gifts. CIS will supply the student’s name, gender, age, clothing sizes, and “wish list” items.

Office Supplies — Copy paper (white and colored), construction paper, tape, etc.

Incentives — Gift cards to area restaurants (KFC, Pizza Hut, Ryan’s, Applebee’s, McDonald’s, etc.); inexpensive items from Dollar Tree, Dollar General, etc. to be used as rewards for student behavior and good grades (decorative pencils, stuffed animals, puzzles, jewelry boxes, notepads, jewelry/hair accessories, toy cars, video games, etc.)

Children’s books appropriate for grades K-8 — Many of our families do not have access to any books at home. We accept donations of books with illustrations as well as easy “chapter books.”

Hygiene Kits — Gallon Ziploc bags filled with hygiene items for students (toothbrush/toothpaste, soap, washrag, deodorant, lotion, shampoo/conditioner, laundry detergent, etc.). CIS can provide a comprehensive list of items to include.
