CIS Summercamp

“Don’t Worry! We won’t use this picture.”

Recent Rains made the falls even more impressive.

Students of the CIS Summer Camp spent the day experiencing downtown Greenville. The oohs and ahhs began as the bus pulled into view of the downtown skyline. Students were not let down as they toured Falls Park on the Reedy River. The students easily identified the bridges and their designs thanks to their recent lessons about bridges. One structure that did not disappoint was the Liberty Bridge. For many students this was the first trip to Falls Park. It was a chance for everyone to enjoy a beautiful park, nature, and wildlife. Everyone turned into an explorer and were eager to share their new found knowledge of recently discovered “cool places.” Some girls even came away with flowers for their hair. It was hard to say goodbye on such a pleasant day but it was time to gear up for another journey, this time to The Children’s Museum of the Upstate.

 

 

Future superstars put on a one time concert, for which they recieved a standy o.The Children’s Museum inspires students to learn more about their world through hands-on exhibits. A number of students took a great interest in ‘Light Waves Ahead.’ ‘Light Waves Ahead’ is an exhibit were Students are able to experiment with optics, lights, and lasers. Another big hit amongst the students was WTCM Studios. The students were able to show off their comedic, singing, and acting chops in the Children’s Museum’s very own news studio. The exhibit included a command center complete with a mixing console and a live feed, perfect for the aspiring producer. The museum was a hit and students were caught up in learning new and interesting topics. Many students had to be drug out of the building when it was time to leave, but all agreed that it was a great adventure.
